Sustainable Development, Global Change, Environmental Technologies and Social-ecological Research in Research Funding

PT-DLR administers the implementation of BMBF research funding programmes on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The goals, targets and topics of BMBF's environment and sustainability research funding programmes are described in the framework programme "Research for Sustainable Development – FONA". This complements the German Federal Government's national sustainability strategy.

FONA forms the basis for the research activities that are administered by PT-DLR in the fields of environmentally-friendly sustainable development, global change, social-ecological research and economics for sustainability. The funding measures that we administer also serve to implement the goals of Germany's High-Tech Strategy in the fields of climate, energy and resources. Through our work in this area we make a substantial contribution to achieving the strategic goals set by the Federal Government for sustainable development and technology funding. The goals of the Master Plan for Environmental Technologies are also pursued within the framework of the research activities administered by PT-DLR.
